How to Set an On-Chain Identity

Step-by-Step Breakdown of Setting Your On-Chain Identity

The following guide walks you through the process of setting an on-chain identity. To do so, you need a Substrate-based wallet address (you can create one at goldberg.avail.tools, or through Subwallet, Talisman or Polkadot.js).

Please Note

In this guide, we are going to use the Subwallet extension but it should work similarly with other wallet providers. Please have a look at Installing Subwallet App for a guide on how to set up your wallet.

Important

Please make sure your wallet is funded with at least 11 $AVL, otherwise setting an on-chain identity is not possible. To request tokens, please see Claiming from Faucet.

Step 1: Connect Wallet

Please visit goldberg.avail.tools and connect your wallet.

Step 2: Set On-Chain Identity

Once your wallet is connected, navigate to your account and click on the 3-dotted line. Click on “Set on-chain identity” to continue.

Step 3: Register On-Chain Identity

In the next step, register your on-chain identity by typing the name of your choice into the field “Display name.” Feel free to also add information into the other fields, such as your email address and your Discord name.

Step 4: Authorize Transaction

You can now initiate the transaction by clicking “Set Identity” in the lower-right corner of the popup.

In the next step, authorize the transaction with your password. Please do not change the app-id.

Next, click on “Sign and Submit” to submit the transaction.

That’s it!

Congratulations, you have successfully set your on-chain identity.  Once the transaction is finalized, you can check it out via the Avail Explorer. You will also see that 10 $AVL tokens was staked during this process.
